Major Achievements of Additional Chief Secretary Forests & Environment Department, Meghalaya :
  • (a) Increased Revenue collection of the Department to approximately Rs. 94 Crore as opposed to Rs. 72 Crore during the previous year i.e. 2015-16.
  • (b) The India Today Group in the conclave of State of the States held on 4thNovember, 2016 at New Delhi adjudged Meghalaya as the best small State in the category of environment which bears eloquent testimony to the provision of environmental services derived as a bonus from the existing green forest cover in the State.
  • (c) Meghalaya bagged prestigious India Biodiversity Award 2016 in the category of “Sustainable Use of Bio-Bio-Resources” for protecting and promoting living root bridges.
